Something Carole might dream about
At night I would put Carole in bed, talk to her about the day, and say a prayer in my words just for her, but this would also be for me. The prayer was a modified Our Father, which asked for more than just daily bread, if it is his will.
Then I would cover Carole up, tuck her in and say GOOD NIGHT. I would then ask, Carole would you like to hear the dream you can have?
With her smile, I would begin. Almost the same dream story was told for over two years. The part about Jesus was added when a friend told me – who so-ever loves Jesus, he will bring to his heavenly kingdom.
Carole, when you fall asleep, you may have this dream.

The Dream
Carole, you can have this dream. You will see a very large field with freshly cut green grass. The grass smells fresh and there will be tall trees, birds and lots of flower gardens. Flowers like pansies, geraniums, marigolds, pansies, lots of roses, red ones- pink ones and yellow, and a butterfly bush with lots of yellow Monarch Butterfly’s and perhaps a black one or two.
As you step into the field, you see little children.
Little girls with patent leather shoes, white socks, little dresses and even a pink ribbon in their hair.
You see little boys with sneakers, jeans and plaid shirts. And, you see lots of kittens and puppy dogs.
The children see you and call out – “Carole come play with us.” You go over to the swing sets and one little girl says, “Give me a push Carole.” Carole, you say ok, and with a swish, swish the little girl jumps off saying, “Thank you Carole, thank you!” Then a little boy jumps on the swing. He says, “Please push me, Carole!” You say OK and with a push - swish. The boy calls out, “Faster, Carole!”, and you push -- swish - swish – swish. The boy calls out, “Carole, harder push me harder, push me”. You say hold on tight. And with a big swish the boy yells out, “Wow, thank you Carole!” He then grabs the little girl’s hand and runs over to the sliding boards. All the children are claiming up the slides yelling, “Watch me Carole! Watch me go!”
Then the children all run over to a big sand box and call out, “Carole come, Carole come and play.” So you do go, and help build a large sand castle with little stones for windows, sticks for bridges and some water in the moat. The children love the sand castle and say, “Thank you Carole, thank you!” And, they continue playing.
Carole, then walk over near the wide stream with crystal-clear water. Some leaves have fallen from the tall trees landing in the water. They look like tiny boots floating downstream. Carole, you then start to walk along a path beside the stream and call for me to walk with you. I take your hand and we walk. I say if we are lucky, perhaps Jesus will come and hold your other hand and walk with us. He will say he loves you Carole. Carole do you love Jesus?
Carole would sometimes get a brilliant smile and say, “Yes.” I would say, Carole as we walk, listens to Jesus. He will make us laugh and be happy.
Carole, continue to walk along the path. You see some women along the bank of the stream. They will call and ask you to come and talk. You go, you will be happy. You will be able to talk. And, they may even give you a cookie.
Won’t that be a good dream Carole?
And then with a smile, Carole would fall asleep.
